desert vibes | my roadtrip in the USA
Monument Valley to Las Vegas
just wanted to give you some impressions, no long captions, not an ultimate guide, I just want to spread some of these desert vibes π
I. MONUMENT VALLEY
you see these gigantic piles of all shades of red
and realize that if your worries seem even small in a world full of red hues,
how pathetic theyβre in that colorful world out there
what an amazing place. the landscape is so lonely and peaceful, just drive around enjoy and be happy.
II.PHOENIX
when we visited Phoenix, it was Sunday and 110Β° F/ 43Β° C, so the city was almost dead. the architecture is very unique and modern, so we had a nice stroll though π (uhh and check the site phoenixvegan for lots of vegan food spots π )
III. ANTELOPE CANYON
that’s a magical place. unfortunately a bit overcrowded and we could only get a tour in the late afternoon (noon is even more magical!) buuut we had some amazing guides who took the best pictures with our phones from the canyon (+us). they catched all the magic of shadows and light
IV. HORSESHOE BEND
this gigantic river shaped like a horseshoe is a must-visit after or before the antelope tour. had to leave after some minutes bc I couldn’t watch some people who wanted the PERFECT SHOT falling down the 1300m and dying. but (!) great place!
V. BRYCE CANYON
make sure you walk the peek-a-boo trail! I’m not a big fan of hiking, but walking through these rocks in all shades of red was overwhelming! oh and say hello to all these little uintah chipmunks who live there π
VI. SEVEN MAGIC MOUNTAINS
had to see that incredible art project by Ugo Rondinone. it was unbelievable hot, but totally worth it! I loved the contrast between the dusty, natural desert and these fancy colored, rocky ‘mountains’. the installation is planned to remain until the end of 2018 and I’m so glad that we made that experience
VII. LAS VEGAS
we’ve been here 5 years ago, so there weren’t any ‘must-visits’ for us, but my favorite hotels to visit are definately the Venetian (it’s incredible, you feel like you stroll through Venice’s canals), Ceasars Palace (so luxury), the fountains of Bellagio and Mirage’s lava-explosion, ‘the classics’ I’d say
las vegas is drama
it means showgirls and showoffs
big money and butts
hangovers and handsome lobbies
drag queens and deep drops
Winners and Losers
it’s just a state
just a moment
in nevada
oh and Vegas’ Downtown is also pretty cool. if you like retro styled shops and neon signs, that’s definately your place to be!
eating vegan or even veggie is quite hard on the strip, but I can totally recommend Vegenation in LV Downtown and the super cute Veggie Delight in Chinatown (it’s a complete asian district, so different than the rest of the city!)
hope you enjoyed these little impressions of the 1st third of our trip π
thoughts to that blog post are very welcome! β₯
